Pedal Peak for business grants scheme

We operated a small grants scheme as part of the Pedal Peak for business initiative to support Derbyshire businesses to purchase fixed equipment to enable good quality experiences for all types of cyclists to help stimulate the cycling economy.

The fund provided 50% towards the expenditure for small-scale projects which help create cycle friendly places that cater to cyclists' needs. Cycle friendly places will encourage residents and visitors to explore the area on two wheels, whilst contributing more to the local economy. Previous similar grant schemes demonstrate the strong economic benefits which can be achieved from such investment.

This pot of money was available for a limited time only until December 2018 and was part of our successful bid to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Growing and Developing the Visitor Economy Sector within Derbyshire. The project is funded from the ERDF as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.

    How much was available?

The advisory minimum was £1000 and the usual maximum £5000, but for exceptional schemes a larger award up to £10,000 could be considered. Smaller grants of £500 or less were also be awarded if a business received 12 hours of business support, which included attendance at the programme's workshops and events. Businesses had to provide 50% of the total project costs.
