Conservation Administration Assistant

Our small administration team shares out a variety of tasks.  They may be the mundane but necessary, like copying, filing, answering the phone or can be more complicated like updating computerised mapping systems with details of land holdings.

Conservation Service Administration Team I work part of the time with the Project Officer for the Environmental Quality Mark, so I’m often required to compile and send out application packs for potential EQM award holders. I’m also involved with overhauling her database and filing system.

Mid-morning brings the day’s post delivery, which has to be logged and distributed.

All of the payment processing for farmers’ grants comes through our office, and I look after all the payments from the Authority’s own Environmental Enhancement Scheme which encourages Peak District National Park farmers to manage their land in an environmentally friendly manner.

Managers and advisers are usually on hand to provide odd jobs ranging from printer maintenance and proof reading to photocopying and letter writing.

What qualifications and experience do I need?

  • 4 GCSEs (Grades A-C) or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of office working including administration procedures.
  • Computer, word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to handle financial data.
