Visitor Centre Assistant

Friendly, helpful, patient individuals who have a wide knowledge of the Peak District and a sense of humour are ideal qualities for a Visitor Centre Assistant.

Visitor Centre AssistantDays are varied and busy, answering the telephone and helping visitors get the most from their visit to the Peak District.  A wide knowledge of the area is required to answer questions like: What to do? What to see? When, where and what are well dressings? Where can I stay? And the most frequently asked question: Where are the toilets?

In between these questions you can be booking hotel, B&B accommodation or a self-catering cottage in the Peak District or further afield in England, Wales or Scotland.

At other times merchandise is checked in, displayed and sold.

We have to search and update our visitor information database so we need computer skills as well.

All in all variety is the spice of life.

What qualifications and experience do I need?

  • 4 GCSEs (Grade A–C) or equivalent, including English.
  • A basic knowledge of the Peak District and National Parks and excellent communication skills – face to face, telephone and listening.
  • Good standard of numeracy, map literate, timetable skills and experience in customer care.
