Local Development Framework

Local Development Scheme (Second Revision adopted January 2010)
This provides information on the documents that make up the planning policy framework, and sets out a timetable for the preparation and review of these documents on a rolling programme.

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) Second Revision was approved by the Authority in October 2009 and has now been accepted by the Secretary of State.

The following programme for the Core Strategy is proposed:

  • Consultation on draft plan June/July 2010
  • Submission to Secretary of State September 2010
  • Examination  February 2011
  • Adoption July 2011

Statement of Community Involvement (adopted December 2006)
This explains how the National Park Authority will involve individuals, local communities and stakeholders in the preparation and revision of LDF documents and the determination of planning applications. The Statement of Community Involvement will be revised once government changes to regulations are known.

Core Strategy
This sets out the vision, objectives and spatial strategy (including key diagram) for the National Park and the primary policies for achieving the vision.

Consultation in May 2005 (jointly with the National Park Management Plan).

Consultation on Core Strategy issues and options took place in May and June 2007.
Consultation Spring 2007

Refined Options
A workshop on refined options will take place with key national, regional and local stakeholders in July 2008.

A series of area focussed workshops on refined options will take place with key local stakeholders in September and October 2008.

A 'Refined Options' document was available for comment between January and April 2009.  The consultation period for feedback on the document has now finished however a copy of the document can be downloaded below.

Preferred Approaches

The Authority approved its Preferred Approaches for the National Park Spatial Strategy and Core Policies for consultation on 2 October 2009.  A period of consultation took place between October and December 2009.

Development Control and Site-Specific Policies
Will contain policies to ensure that development meets certain criteria and contributes to the achievement of the Core Strategy. Consultation expected from 2009.

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD)
Supplementary Planning Documents provide guidance to support Development Plan and Local Development Framework policies and are to be used in assessing planning applications. The Authority will produce no new SPDs, nor will it review existing SPGs / SPDs until submission of the Core Strategy at the end of 2009.

Building Design Guide 1987
This was adopted as a technical supplement to the Peak District Design Guide SPD in February 2007 and will be replaced as further technical supplements are adopted.

Annual Monitoring Report (last published December 2009)
Published every year, this monitors how the Authority is performing against the timescales set out in the Local Development Scheme, provides information on the extent to which policies are being achieved, and whether any document needs reviewing in advance of its scheduled main review date.
