Ring Ouzel Update 2008

2 June
Sorry for the lack of information to date but here's a quick summary of what's happened to the Ring Ouzels at Stanage so far this year.

There have been two successful nests so far, at Balcony Buttress (three chicks) and Cowper Stone (four chicks).  Thanks to all visitors for your support in avoiding these areas.  The chicks are currently being fed in the bracken beds, so please be wary and keep your dogs on a lead.  Unfortunately, a third nest on the Long Causeway failed as the female was predated.

There are now three new nests which have just been built in the last few days: one near The Tippler (Popular End), one near The Strangler (Plantation area) and a third behind the Cowper Stone.

Signs have just gone up asking for visitors' help by avoiding the first two of these for the next four weeks or so until fledging.

Thanks for your support.
