Accessibility
The
National Park Authority aims to make recreational facilities available to as many people as possible.
This includes providing special parking bays at popular car parks, accessible information centres and
picnic sites, toilets with facilities for disabled people and, where practical, access onto suitably
surfaced paths.
Public transport
For information on Staffordshire / Derbyshire Rural Transport, the helpline number is: 01538 372979
A number of Community Transport Schemes operate in the area using accessible vehicles to assist people who are unable to use ordinary public transport. All of the schemes are registered charities and are under contract to Derbyshire County Council to provide Dial-a-Bus and Group Hire services.
The Peak District National Park Authority subsidises most of the Community Transport Schemes to operate 'Scenic Derbyshire Tours' from May to October. The 16-seat vehicles are fully accessible and can accommodate wheelchair passengers. These services are open to local elderly and/or disabled residents and to visitors to the area.
TransPeak
walks organise
guided walks from stations on the Hope Valley, Buxton and Glossop railway lines. Details of these
walks can be found on their website www.transpeakwalks.co.uk
Parking
The National Park Authority owns 49 car parks. A parking fee is charged on some of these car parks. Disabled people displaying the blue badge park free.
