Milldale Riverside
Map ref: SK 139547
This scenic lay-by overlooking the River Dove is reserved for disabled people (two spaces). The surface is smooth tarmac and a seat is provided nearby.
Public toilets are a short distance away, up several steps. There is level access to a new toilet suitable for disabled people, for which a RADAR key is required.
Through a field gate close to the toilets is a small National Trust information barn which is open during daylight hours and contains wall-mounted information. The floor is concrete and there is one small step of 25mm into the building and another of 75mm across the middle of the room.
The path over Viator’s Bridge towards Dovedale is fairly steep and paved with uneven cobbles; the path alongside the river southwards is unsuitable for people in wheelchairs. However from the lay-by there is a well maintained level tarmac path for a short distance along Milldale.
