How to get here
Derwent Cycle Hire is situated in the picturesque Derwent Valley. It is accessed from the A57 Sheffield to Glossop road and can also be reached by public transport. Cycle beside the
historic Derwent and Ladybower reservoirs through beautiful woodland.
Where you can cycle to
There is a wide range of both easy going and challenging routes for cyclists. But please remember that cycling is only permitted on bridleways – not on footpaths or open moorland. The friendly and knowledgeable Cycle Hire staff are on hand to offer help and advice.
An emergency cycle repair service is also offered although this may not be available at all times.
The reservoirs of the Derwent and Howden were built nearly 100 years ago to supply the cities of Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby and Leicester. Ladybower was completed in 1945 to supply an ever increasing demand. With the combination of water, woodlands and high moorland, the Upper Derwent has become a unique place for wildlife.
In the West Tower of the Derwent Dam there is a memorial and museum for the Dambusters 617 squadron. The museum is open most Sundays and Bank Holidays.
