About Me

I live less than 10 miles from the northern edge of the Peak District National Park in the village of Lindley.

I have a background in teaching and have worked in different schools and colleges in West Yorkshire. I currently work part time in the library at the University of Huddersfield. I spend most of my time working as a local government councillor at Kirklees Council representing the Lindley Ward.

I am a school governor at the local high school and I am also the chair of the local community group which has responsibility for the annual carnival and youth groups in Lindley.

I am married with two young girls. My interests include politics, history, running which I do to raise money for charity as well as keep fit. I enjoy all types of sport; I like to watch Huddersfield Town football club and the Huddersfield Giants rugby league team. I am also a keen fan of boxing and Gaelic football which I have played competitively.

What the national park means to me

I believe the national park to be a truly unique place that is full of natural beauty the landscape is extraordinary in its grandeur and splendour of different colours and textures. Being a short drive to such marvellous scenery is truly special. The family and I enjoy walking and picnicking there. There is plenty to explore and discover, the view changes constantly. I believe the message that the park is for everyone is very important to promote whether you wish to walks for miles taking in the air or sit in the car with an ice cream and look at the glorious surroundings people should be free to experience it as they wish while looking after it for others to enjoy.
