About Me

I live within two miles of the National Park boundary and am a retired senior Police officer.

I am an elected councillor on both Derbyshire Dales District Council and Derbyshire County Council.

Since 2007, I have been a Member of Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Central and Northern Planning Committee.

I have been a member of the Peak District National Park Authority since June 2009.

What the national park means to me

Serving on various committees at Derbyshire County Council, I take the opportunity to link issues and policies to the National Park. For example, cultural heritage matters as a Member of The Arkwright Society Committee Management and transport and travel issues as Chairman of the Derwent Valley Community Rail Partnership.

I represent the Authority on East Midlands Councils and monitor and ensure that polices on travel, tourism and business enterprise and regeneration are consistent with National Park policies.

I ensure that the local MP is briefed on national interests that are closely linked to National Park policies and governance matters.
