About Me

I worked at Severn Trent Water (previously the Water Authority) for 27 years up to July 2005. For the final 10 years I was their Conservation, Access and Recreation Manager responsible for recreation, conservation and heritage issues across their 50,000 acre estate.

This included the development of facilities such as those at the Upper Derwent Valley, Tittesworth Reservoir and Carsington Water. I also managed the company’s Biodiversity Action Plan, oversaw their woodland, forestry and wetland management and their management of cultural and heritage sites.

I am a graduate in Ecology and Biological Sciences from the University of East Anglia, and a certificated Member of the Institute of Fisheries Management, the CountrysideManagement Associationand a Chartered Environmentalist.

I have been a member of the Peak District Local Access Forum since it began in 2000.

As member champion for access and recreation for the Peak District National Park Authority I sat on the board of the Pedal Peak District project, which has reopened the railway tunnels on the Monsal Trail. I also chair the Moors the Future Partnership.

What the national park means to me

I am keen to see a National Park with a thriving economy and local communities, amongst a beautiful and inspirational landscape and wildlife, that if I visited in 50 years time I would recognise as an even better place than it is now.
