Connect to Peak Connections travel survey

On paper, online or on a smartphone? A new travel survey aims to find out how people would prefer to get their Peak District bus and train information.

Peak Connections, which promotes sustainable travel for visitors and residents, has launched the survey to assess demand for a dedicated website for travel in the Peak District, and to consider other new technologies, such as mobile ‘apps’ and Quick Response codes for smartphones.

Peak Connections officer Carol Lavell said: “The survey will help us review the ways we distribute our information to get best value for money.

“Our publications show how easy it is to get to the Peak District and explore it by bus and train, but if not enough people track down Peak Connections in the first place, they’re less likely to choose the green travel option.

“Until now, we’ve issued paper leaflets in visitor centres and shops, and downloadable documents from the Peak Connections web-pages. But we want to find out if there’s a need to develop our communications in other ways.”

The survey is available until October 27 on http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/visiting/publictransport/peakconnections

Peak Connections has produced a series of village-based leaflets giving bus and train times from surrounding towns and cities, a sketch-map of the village and what there is to do and see.

It also offers discounts at attractions for people arriving by bus, and a Ride and Ramble book of linear walks linked to bus and train services.

The project, managed by the Peak District National Park Authority, aims to cut car-use, congestion and carbon emissions in and around the national park.
