Green Pathways

Green Pathways in the Peak District

Green Pathways is a collection of inspirational programmes that reach out into communities beyond National Parks boundaries and down into the youngest age groups to provide motivation, experiences, skills, training and career development opportunities that will live long in the memories of participants.

All experiences are designed to grow nature connectedness as a means to: enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of participants; promote more environmentally responsible lifestyle choices; boost attainment in education.

Opportunities within the Peak District

Generation Green is a new project in the Peak District National Park set to connect young people to nature - many for the first time - and to cultivate a sense of care for the natural environment.

Connections to nature improve wellbeing

We know there are five things* that help us connect better to nature and maximise these wellbeing benefits:

  • Physical contact with the natural world
  • Taking time to appreciate the beauty of nature
  • Thinking about the meaning and signs of nature
  • Finding an emotional bond with, and love for, nature
  • Showing compassion for nature

This project has a specific remit to look at ways to respond to these challenges.
