Only available at the Moorland Discovery Centre. This local history study is a real step back in time to investigate the hidden history of the Longshaw Estate during the First World War. Longshaw Lodge was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers during the First World War.
This hands-on day of enquiry and investigation takes students through the evacuation from the front lines in France back to ‘Blighty’. Using photos, news clippings and costumes the students will investigate, what was life like at Longshaw when the soldiers were here? How did they get here and what was the medicine of the time like?
