BOOK NOW FOR SCHOOL HOLIDAY FUN IN THE FOREST
Parents looking for an entertaining and affordable day out for children in the school holidays should check out a Forest Fun Day.
Rangers from the Peak District National Park Authority and Macclesfield Borough Council are planning the event for Wednesday August 18 in Macclesfield Forest - and booking is essential.
Suitable for children aged three to eight, the day costs £2 per child, and includes pond-dipping, a mini-beast hunt, games and learning experiences about trees and wildlife. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
The day starts at 11am and finishes at 3pm at Trentabank Ranger Centre, near Trentabank Reservoir, which lies between Macclesfield and Buxton. You can get to it off the A537 'Cat and Fiddle' road or the A54 Buxton to Congleton road - the nearest villages are Langley, Macclesfield Forest or Wildboarclough.
Don't forget to take a picnic lunch, warm drink and wear suitable outdoor clothing and stout footwear.
For more details, contact Rangers Hazel Winder or Sally Stamper on 01260 252832.
Macclesfield Forest is a renowned beauty spot within easy reach of Manchester, Buxton and Cheshire. The land is owned by United Utilities and used for water catchment but thousands of people of all ages enjoy it for walking, bird-watching and picnicking.
