Parwich residents given chance to meet Peak District leaders
Residents in Parwich and the surrounding area are being invited to meet with leaders from the Peak District National Park Authority to talk about issues in their villages.
Councillor Irene Ratcliffe, deputy chair of the authority, and chief executive Jim Dixon will visit Parwich on Tuesday (13 January) in the latest of a series of visits to get the views of residents in local communities across the national park.
The event is a chance for Irene and Jim to meet with residents, business owners and parish councillors to discuss any issues that affect village life.
They will also discuss the work of the Peak District National Park Authority in the area to find out what is working well and areas where improvements could be made.
They will start at 1.30pm by meeting Janet Gosling, landlady of the Sycamore Inn. The pub doubles as the community shop, selling vegetables, newspapers and household goods. Janet decided to open the shop after the village’s only other store closed. As a result the Sycamore Inn won the Best Community Pub Award 2008.
At 2.15pm the group will visit Parwich Primary School to talk to teachers, governors and parents about issues related to rural schools.
They will then go to Parwich Memorial Hall to meet Parwich Village Action Group, members of the Memorial Hall committee and the team behind the village website – www.parwich.org
The visit will conclude with a meeting, between 6pm and 7pm, at Parwich Memorial Hall in Main Street with parish councillors and any members of the public who wish to attend.
Other community visits planned for the future will be at:
- Eyam on Monday 2 February 2009
- Bakewell on Monday 9 March 2009 and
- Waterhouses and Calton on Tuesday 7 April 2009.
Anyone from these communities interested in meeting senior leaders of the Peak District National Park Authority during these events can contact John Fern, head of communications, on 01629 816356 or email email@example.com
