Defra has confirmed that Mr Geoff Nickolds has been reappointed by the Secretary of State as a member of the Peak District National Park Authority. His reappointment will be for a one-year term commencing 1 April 2011 and ending on 31 March 2012.
The position on further appointments/reappointments by the Secretary of State will be reviewed following the outcome of the Government’s review of Governance arrangements for National Park Authorities and the Broads Authority this year.
Geoff Nickolds is chair of the Moors for the Future Partnership and member representative for access and recreation.
He formerly worked for Severn Trent Water for 26 years, and was responsible for conservation, access and recreation across the whole region. He was also chair of the Environment Agency (Midlands) regional fisheries, ecology and recreation advisory committee.
He was first appointed to the Peak District National Park Authority in 2007, and is a keen walker and cyclist as well as a chartered environmentalist.
