Visitors to historic Chatsworth can get £2 off entry to the house and garden if they leave the car at home and hop on a TM Travel bus from Sheffield, Matlock or Bakewell.

Chatsworth has joined forces with TM Travel to launch the discount at the start of Green Tourism Week, November 4-10, on the 215 and 218 bus services which journey hourly through the beautiful Peak District National Park.

The special offer will apply from November 4 until Chatsworth closes for the 2013 season on December 23, and again when it re-opens on March 16 to the end of the 2014 season.

Visitors will receive the discount at the entrance on production of their TM Travel ticket and discount voucher – available in the bus timetable leaflet from tourism information centres, bus stations and the Chatsworth information room.

Aidan Richardson, transport policy officer for the Peak District National Park, said: "We welcome this initiative that provides not only a sustainable and hassle-free way of getting to Chatsworth, but a green way to explore the wider Peak District National Park. There's some stunning scenery along the route, and with a £6 Daysaver ticket offering unlimited daily travel on the service, people can hop on and off as they please."

Paul Hopkinson, commercial officer for TM Travel said: "Our partnership with Chatsworth and the National Park Authority will hopefully raise the profile of the service and enable people to reach the attractions of the Peak District and Chatsworth without the hassles of driving and parking. The services run all year round even through the winter giving plenty of opportunities to get out and about."

Luke Sherlock, Chatsworth sustainability manager, said: "We are delighted to be marking Green Tourism Week with the launch of this incentive to promote the increased use of bus transport to and from Chatsworth. As part of our wider ambition to become a leading Green Tourism destination, transport is an area we are looking to innovate in and this initiative demonstrates a great step forward for Chatsworth and our visitors."

The 218 service operates Monday to Saturday and the 215 on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Both services travel roughly hourly in either direction between Matlock, Chatsworth, Bakewell, Baslow and Sheffield.
