Cyclists encouraged to gear up for winter with free bike checks
Cyclists are invited to bring their bicycles for a free check before winter at Millers Dale Station, on the Monsal Trail.
The Peak District National Park Authority’s cycle hire staff will be on hand to give free bike maintenance advice, between 10am and 4pm, on Friday November 1.
Cycle hire team manager Charlotte Bowler said: “It is important to regularly check your bicycle to make sure it is safe to ride but people aren’t always sure what to look for.
“Our cycle hire staff are experienced bike maintenance experts and are offering free bicycle checks and advice so that people know what their bikes need.”
Along with the free bike checks there will be cycling goodies to buy and bicycles to hire.
Cycling jerseys celebrating the Holme Moss ride section of next year’s Tour de France Grand Depart will be on sale as well as other cycling accessories including helmets, gloves and water bottles.
In addition, the cycle hire centres are now holding their end of season sale of hire bikes. Every bicycle is fully serviced before being sold.
The Authority’s cycle hire centres are at Ashbourne, Derwent and Parsley Hay. For more details, go to www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/cycling
The cycle hire staff are keen cyclists themselves and are always happy to give cycling tips and friendly advice to less experienced cyclists.
Cycling in the national park is a great way to get fit at any time of year.
