People new to mountain biking are being urged to gear up for some late summer cycling.

Complete beginners and mountain biking novices are invited to the Peak District National Park Authority’s free event on Thursday 22 August.

The guided mountain bike ride starts from Parsley Hay cycle hire centre at 10am and will take about 3.5 hours.

Cycle hire team manager Charlotte Bowler said: “If you’re new to mountain biking and want to learn some basic techniques then this is the ideal ride for you.

“The ride is designed to build people’s confidence and also includes basic bike maintenance and navigation skills.

“Cycling in the national park is a great way to explore the landscape, get closer to nature and improve your fitness at the same time.”

The event is free of charge if people bring their own bike. Or they can hire one of this season’s bikes from the Parsley Hay cycle hire centre.

Booking is essential for this guided bike ride, contact Charlotte Bowler on 01629 816552 or charlotte.bowler@peakdistrict.gov.uk
