LambsA free event has been organised to boost Peak District businesses and help the environment.

The Peak District National Park Authority is hosting 5 Steps to a Better (and greener) Business at its headquarters in Bakewell on Thursday October 23 (booking essential).

It aims to encourage more businesses to apply for the Environmental Quality Mark (EQM) award, which helps reduce running costs by saving energy and water and reducing waste.

The award also offers official recognition of what businesses do for the Peak District, its people and environment, and can help firms improve their Google ranking with a listing on the national park website.

Other benefits include training and promotional opportunities, and use of the EQM logo to help businesses stand out from competitors.

Award holder Cath Lee, from Peak Walking Adventures, said: "EQM encouraged me to think about some aspects of my customer service that I hadn't previously considered, which was really useful. I also love the fact that the EQM is specific to the Peak District and encourages local businesses to work together, trade with each other, and support each other."

5 Steps to a Better (and greener) Business is at Aldern House, Baslow Road, Bakewell, DE45 1AE on Thursday October 23 (10.30am-1pm) and will be followed by a networking lunch. To book, email or call 07702 452777.
