Applications are invited for a Secretary of State-appointed 'national' member to Peak District National Park Authority. This member will have an understanding of the national importance placed on these protected landscapes and provide strategic input, at a non-executive level, to the management of the Board so that the Board delivers wider benefits to the nation and local communities.
The Peak District has 30 members and although these positions are non-salaried, certain allowances are available to be claimed. The time commitment is 2 - 6 days per month.
Candidates should have an understanding of England's Protected Landscapes and in particular National Parks as significant national assets, their statutory purposes and duties. In addition, candidates should have the ability to make reasoned judgments when conflicts arise; a good knowledge and appreciation of the strategic issues facing the Peak District National Park Authority and proven ability to communicate effectively. In addition, candidates should have an understanding of how to be an effective member as well as awareness of social inclusion and diversity issues relating to the Peak District National Park.
