Blaze Farm is hosting the South West Peak launch partyStretching from Lyme Park in the north to Waterhouses in the south and from Macclesfield to Buxton, the beautiful South West Peak has a special quality all its own and is adored by both residents and visitors. This “Landscape at a Crossroads” is characterized by the haunting sound of the curlew’s call, expansive vistas, and, on Thursday 1 June, from 10.00am to 1.00pm, also by the taste of delicious locally made ice cream from the dairy cows at Blaze Farm!

To celebrate the launch of the South West Peak Landscape Partnership, which is supported by National Lottery players through a £2.4m grant; the Partnership is inviting people to join them at Blaze Farm in Wildboarclough to find out what we plan to accomplish over the next 5 years.

The event will feature a brand new ice cream flavour called “Taste of the South West Peak” that is being created exclusively for this event. So come and join us to taste this unique and exciting treat! A tour of the farm will be offered and South West Peak staff will be on hand to talk about the projects that are just starting as well as ones that will be beginning a little further down the line.

Like many places, the South West Peak faces challenges to both its cultural and natural heritage. Over the course of the Partnership 18 distinct projects will be delivered across the South West Peak. These range from recording the cultural heritage of farming in the area with the ‘Peak Land Lives’ project to hosting countryside worker apprentices, our ‘Future Custodians’ and supporting and encouraging breeding wading birds with ‘Working for Waders’.

Karen Shelly-Jones, who manages the South West Peak Landscape Partnership, said: "We really want local people to get involved so the launch event is a great opportunity for everyone to find out more. By working together we hope to strengthen the South West Peak and its precious communities and resources. Please come along, enjoy the locally made ice cream, support a local business and share your views - we look forward to meeting you."

Details of the event will be posted on our Facebook /swpeak and Twitter @SouthWestPeak accounts, so keep an eye out.

See you there!
