Opportunities and Threats
Extent - Very limited areas, often very small in extent of individual sites.
Condition – Probably fairly good generally, though some sites may suffer from invasive species, eutrophication or excessive poaching by livestock.
Connectivity - Generally poor. Some connectivity between a few sites along river corridors.
Climate change risks – High risk of drying out with lower summer rainfall and higher temperatures.
Priorities
The limited extent and importance in a national context mean it is:
High priority to:
- Maintain protected sites in good condition.
Medium priority to:
- Safeguard existing unprotected sites.
