The Duke of Edinburgh Award logoThe Peak Park Conservation Volunteers (PPCV) are providing fantastic conservation opportunities at their two residential centres, Marsh Farm, near Leek and Brunts Barn at Grindleford, in the beautiful Peak District National Park.

Our residential projects are available to people aged between 18 and 25 who are completing their Duke of Edinburgh's Gold and Queen's Scout/Guide award.

We provide food, accommodation, use of tools and equipment and travel to and from site. Please note the course includes physical conservation tasks.

    • 4th to 8th April at Marsh Farm
    • 31st July to 4th at Brunt's Barn
    • 7th to 11th August at Brunt's Barn
    • 14th to 18th August at Brunt's Barn
    • 21st to 25th August at Brunt's Barn
    • 26th to 30th October at Marsh Farm

    Arrive at volunteer centre at 12 noon.

    Introduction to the Peak District National Park, your project, and the Peak District Award.
    9.30am to 4.00pm.

    Practical conservation project in the Peak District National Park.
    9.30am to 4.00pm.

    Practical conservation project in the Peak District National Park.
    9.30am to 4.00pm.

    Practical conservation project in the Peak District National Park.
    9.30am to 1.00pm.

    Ranger led walk looking at the habitats of the Peak District National Park.

    1.00pm - Finish Peak District Award and receive your certificate; clean and tidy the centre.

    Leave at 3.00pm.

    Students on Derwent Edge

    Day 1

    Arrive at volunteer centre at 12 noon. Introduction to the Peak District National Park, your project, and the Peak District Award.

    Day 2

    9.30am to 4.00pm. Practical conservation project in the Peak District National Park.

    Day 3

    9.30am to 4.00pm. Practical conservation project in the Peak District National Park.

    Day 4

    9.30am to 4.00pm. Practical conservation project in the Peak District National Park.

    Day 5

    9.30am to 1.00pm. Ranger led looking at the habitats of the Peak District National Park.1.00pm - Finish Peak District Award and receive your certificate; clean and tidy the centre. Leave at 3.00pm.


    You will spend your evening leisure time in one of the National Park Authority's volunteer's residential centres, which offers bunkhouse accommodation in converted stone barns.

    Sharing the self-catering facilities (food provided) and organising your domestic arrangements as a group is an essential part of your project experience. During your residential, you will also complete the certificated John Muir Award.
