Visiting

Make the most of your visit to the glorious Peak District.

Get Active in the Outdoors

The Peak District is the perfect setting for you to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities all year-round and so easy to get to. Whilst there are many recreational pursuits undertaken in the Peak District this section focuses on those which are most appropriate to national park purposes. They all depend on the special characteristics of the area, namely:

  • Outstanding natural beauty, character and diversity of the landscape
  • Significant geological features
  • Sense of wildness and remoteness
  • Clean earth, air and water
  • Importance of wildlife and the area's unique biodiversity and cultural heritage

Get out there and try something new – you’re sure to find something to suit!

Many of these activities are free and they all have the added bonus of improving your health and well-being.

From spectacular, wide open moorland to more secluded limestone dales, the Peak District has so much to offer. Call in at one of the Peak District National Park's Visitor Centres for guidance and advice.
