Education visits

The Learning and Discovery Team offers a range of activities to support learning, working with many different organisations and institutions, from schools and youth groups to family and community groups.

We deliver Primary school day visits from our three centres at Longdendale, Longshaw and Macclesfield Forest, and Secondary school fieldwork visits at various locations across the National Park.

Please note that, as at the end of March 2024, there are no available dates for school programmes run from the Longdendale, Crowden, Macclesfield Forest or Longshaw sites for this coming Summer Term.

Our team can also visit your site to deliver activities in your own school setting.

Our programmes aim to inspire you to love the Peak District National Park as much as we do. All our work will promote understanding of the National Park by providing creative and inspirational experiences that will help you discover the special qualities of the place.

Please download or print out the Enquiry Form (47KB) complete the sections and return:

Health and Safety

Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge

All activities are fully risk assessed - our leaders are trained to a high standard and Criminal Records Bureau/Disclosure and Barring (CRB/DBS) checked. For more details on health and safety please follow the tabs on the left.

We hold the Learning Outside the Classroom quality badge, certificate number R2QB103464

We strive to make our visits accessible to all. While many of our sites are accessible to people with limited mobility, it would be wise to discuss your particular needs with us before booking.

Evaluation

We assess learning using a variety of techniques appropriate to the age and ability of the pupils and the type of activity such as: questioning, questioning games, observing how well children are performing tasks, checking results, quizzes and feedback forms. All group leaders will be asked to complete a feedback form after their visit. We hope you will find time to do this as we use this information to improve our programmes
