Tree safety work starts Monday 6 November on Tissington Trail

Monday 6 November 2023

Ash dieback tree safety work will be carried out on the Tissington Trail from 6 November to 22 December 2023.

The work will take place between the car parks at Alsop Station to Tissington Station.

Ash trees are being felled in this area to help tackle ash dieback and minimise the safety risk to trail users from diseased, weakened and falling trees.

Felling will take place in short sections along the route and these will change throughout the felling period as each area is completed and re-opened. Sections where no felling is underway will remain open, but no through access will be possible via closed areas.

The full trail route will be open and available at weekends and during school holidays. Please continue to observe any safety advice and signage during these periods.

The vast majority of the resulting timber and other material will be removed from the trail, however some small areas of habitat will be left to benefit wildlife. Replacement trees will not be planted, but natural regeneration will be allowed to take place, alongside routine safety and route management where required.
