Open Digital Planning

innovative building in the Peak District

Open Digital Planning

Peak District National Park Authority is working with other Local Planning Authorities to shape a more efficient, data-driven planning system.  Supported by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), the Open Digital Planning community are united in transforming planning for the benefit of everyone. Maps of all datasets are available at https://www.planning.data.gov.uk/map/

There are currently five datasets we are required to publish as being part of the project.  An explanation of each dataset with links for more information and current PDNPA data are below.

Article 4 Direction

An Article 4 Direction removes or restricts national Permitted Development Rights within a specific site or area. This can range from an individual part of a settlement to the local planning authority’s whole area and there are examples of both in the Peak District National Park..

Listed Buildings

A listed building is a structure deemed of special national architectural or historic interest, protecting it within the planning system. It requires owners to obtain Listed Building Consent for most alterations, extensions, or demolitions, inside or out, to protect its character. Listing covers the entire building and sometimes attached structures.
