The Learning and Discovery Team offers a range of activities to support learning, working with many different organisations and institutions, from schools and youth groups to family and community groups. We deliver from various locations and centres around the Park - from the gritstone edges above Hathersage to the limestone dales around Hartington.

Covid-19 latest update - 24 August 2020

School visits - Back in September - Now open for bookings

In line with current government guidance on outdoor gatherings, we will resume a modified version of our education services in September.

We are offering a limited range of field visits, as well as online learning opportunities and visits to deliver activities in your school setting. Please be assured that we will only carry out activities that are Covid-secure.

We are now taking bookings.

Please see our Education Visits: Autumn 2020 page for details of the activities we are now offering.

Note: Summer term cancellations - As of 21 April all school bookings to the end of summer term 2020 no longer required notification of cancellation or any cancellation fees. All school bookings were cancelled for this period.

All schools that had bookings were contacted, when the schools reopen and visits resume you can re-book your trips. Please check this website for up to date information.

You can also take a look at our Teachers Resources for activities that can be done at home or in school.

Evaluation

We assess learning using a variety of techniques appropriate to the age and ability of the pupils and the type of activity such as: questioning, questioning games, observing how well children are performing tasks, checking results, quizzes and feedback forms. All group leaders will be asked to complete a feedback form after their visit. We hope you will find time to do this as we use this information to improve our programmes
