Our Primary and Secondary visits to Longdendale and Crowden and our A-level days are open for bookings for the 26/27 Academic Year. If you would like to visit please complete and send us an enquiry form (found below)

If you are interested in booking a visit at the Moorland Discovery Centre please contact the centre directly: mdc@nationaltrust.org.uk

We are saddened that at the end of July 2025 we unfortunately had to close our educational centre at Macclesfield Forest. We are in the process of updating our website to reflect this change.

If you would like any further information please contact learning.discovery@peakdistrict.gov.uk

The Learning and Discovery Team offers a range of activities to support learning, working with many different organisations and institutions, from schools and youth groups to family and community groups.

We deliver Primary school day visits from our centre at Longdendale/Crowden and Secondary/A-Level school fieldwork visits at various locations across the National Park.

Our programmes aim to inspire you to love the Peak District National Park as much as we do. We promote a greater understanding of the National Park through providing creative and inspirational experiences that will help you discover the special qualities of the Peak District National Park.

To book a visit, please download or print out the Enquiry Form (40 KB), complete the sections and return:

Health and Safety

All activities are fully risk assessed - our leaders are trained to a high standard and are Criminal Records Bureau/Disclosure and Barring (CRB/DBS) checked. For more details on health and safety please see our Health and Safety page.

We strive to make our visits accessible to all. While many of our sites are accessible to people with limited mobility, it would be wise to discuss your particular needs with us before booking.

Evaluation

We assess learning using a variety of techniques appropriate to the age and ability of the pupils and the type of activity such as: questioning, questioning games, observing how well children are performing tasks, checking results, quizzes and feedback forms. All group leaders will be asked to complete a feedback form after their visit. We hope you will find time to do this as we use this information to improve our programmes
