Education visits

The Learning and Discovery Team offers a range of activities to support learning, working with many different organisations and institutions, from schools and youth groups to family and community groups. We deliver from various locations and centres around the Park - from the gritstone edges above Hathersage to the limestone dales around Hartington.

We are now taking bookings, and we can’t wait to welcome you back!

Please be assured that we will only carry out activities that are COVID-secure and in line with current government guidance. We will continue to follow government guidelines and will review our services if necessary. As well as field visits to our sites and centres, we are also offering online learning opportunities and visits to deliver activities in your school setting.

Our programmes aim to inspire you to love the Peak District National Park as much as we do. All our work will promote understanding of the national park by providing creative and inspirational experiences that will help you discover the special qualities of the place.

Health and Safety

Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge

All activities are fully risk assessed - our leaders are trained to a high standard and Criminal Records Bureau/Disclosure and Barring (CRB/DBS) checked. For more details on health and safety please follow the tabs on the left.

We hold the Learning Outside the Classroom quality badge, certificate number R2QB103464

We strive to make our visits accessible to all. While many of our sites are accessible to people with limited mobility, it would be wise to discuss your particular needs with us before booking.

We assess learning using a variety of techniques appropriate to the age and ability of the pupils and the type of activity such as: questioning, questioning games, observing how well children are performing tasks, checking results, quizzes and feedback forms. All group leaders will be asked to complete a feedback form after their visit. We hope you will find time to do this as we use this information to improve our programmes
