The Peak District National Park Authority welcomes the recent announcement of The Peak Partnership.
This new partnership brings together the Mayors of the East Midlands, Greater Manchester, and South Yorkshire.
Their initial focus will be...
- Transforming the Snake Pass and rural network
- Boosting the visitor economy
- Improving rural access and active travel
The three regions represent over seven million people, share hundreds of miles of walking and cycling routes, and are united by the Peak District National Park.
Phil Mulligan, chief executive of the Peak District National Park Authority said: "We are very much looking forward to working with the three Mayoral Authorities. Our National Park Management Plan Partnership currently brings together constituent councils and other major stakeholders from across the Peak District and so this will be a great opportunity to solidify existing relationships and focus on directing efforts and funding to the areas which are key to the purposes of the National Park.
"Transport in particular is key in terms of helping to address the challenges of climate change and nature recovery whilst boosting and managing visitation which is so important to the local economy.
"We certainly see this partnership as a positive development and will provide a further opportunity for all relevant authorities to work together to the benefit of our National Park."
