The Peak District National Park Authority publicises its draft Local Plan for consultation

The Peak District National Park Authority is carrying out a consultation on the 'Peak District National Park Local Plan (Publication Draft) 2026-2045'.
The consultation starts 27 July 2026 and runs until 20 September 2026.
Following the consultation, the Policy and Communities team will finalise the preparation of the Draft Local Plan for submission to the Secretary of State for examination.
Janet Dugdale, chair of the Peak District National Park Authority said: "It has been a real team effort to get to this stage of the plan-making process; officers, members, stakeholders and the public have all contributed to the formation of the spatial objectives and policies that are set out in the Local Plan that will shape future development in the National Park to 2045. This consultation is the final chance for any individual, business or organisation to express their views on whether the Local Plan meets legal requirements and the 'tests of soundness' before it is submitted for examination by a Planning Inspector.”
The consultation document will be online and accessed via an interactive portal as well being available as a downloadable pdf. Visit our Local Plan section for more information.
Paper copies of the consultation document will be in local libraries; at the National Park Authority headquarters; and at constituent local authorities' offices. Parish Councils will be sent details of the consultation to share with their communities.
The Peak District National Park Authority is required to carry out the public consultation in accordance with Part 2 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 as amended and Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012).
