Prosecution after alterations harm historic character of Grade II listed building in Peak District National Park
A married couple and a joiner have been prosecuted by the Peak District National Park Authority after making unauthorised alterations to a building dating back to the 17th century. Christopher and Sarah Gillott, of Hurds Hollow, Matlock, pleaded guilty at Chesterfield Magistrates Court to five charges relating to their former home, The Lodge - a Grade II listed building within the conservation area of Winster. Joiner Simon Mcloughlin, of Greenhill, Wirksworth, also admitted five charges.

Cycle of success
The Peak District is now more cycle-friendly than ever after two years of work with local businesses to raise awareness of how to boost cycling tourism. Since December 2016, the Pedal Peak for Business project (led by the Peak District National Park and supported by Derbyshire Dales District Council and Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire) has been helping businesses to welcome cyclists, developing a cycle tourism toolkit to identify cyclists’ needs and attract the cycling market.

We are looking for young people, aged between 11 and 18, to join groups at Marsh Farm near Tittesworth Reservoir, Longdendale near Glossop and our new group at Langsett, South Yorkshire. Happy trails – half a million visits to Peak District routes
Trails providing a range of opportunities in the Peak District National Park are playing host to more than half a million visits each year from walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Data revealed by the National Park Authority recorded 519,000 visits across key routes including the Monsal Trail, Tissington, Manifold and High Peak trails.

Horse power boosts path repair project in the Peak District National Park
Horse riders have secured a £7500 award towards the cost of path repairs to the Cut Gate bridleway in the Peak District National Park. Peak Horsepower Equestrian Access Group, which works to extend and improve the bridleway network in the National Park, secured the money through the British Horse Society's Paths for Communities Fund.
