Statement from the Peak District National Park Authority on the passing of our late Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II

Cllr Andrew McCloy, Chair of the Peak District National Park Authority:
"On behalf of the Peak District National Park Authority, our Members, staff teams and volunteers we extend our sincere condolences to the Royal Family following the announcement of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.
"Her Majesty the Queen’s extraordinary sense of public duty and leadership has seen us through good times and bad and we remember her with affection and gratitude for this.
"Queen Elizabeth II’s deep-rooted love of the outdoors was well documented and remained a firm feature at the centre of her life away from official duties throughout her reign.
"She also steadfastly supported the late Duke of Edinburgh’s passion for his ground-breaking Awards Scheme, which still sees thousands of young people exploring the Peak District National Park every year on often their first true adventures in the countryside.
"Queen Elizabeth II’s most recent visit to the UK’s first National Park was in 2014 at Chatsworth House, where among others she met and spoke with volunteers from the National Park about their work.
"As a mark of respect for Her Majesty the Queen and throughout the period of official mourning, a number of National Park events and facilities may be affected. Please see our website for further details."
