Further Information
At Thornbridge Outdoors the mission is To widen the horizons of young people through real outdoor adventures in the Peak District. The majority of their work with young people is through high quality, bespoke residential visits for schools during term time.
At weekends and during school holidays they work with a wide range of clients to make the most of the accommodation, beautiful 30 acre site and fabulous location. Weekend and holiday customers include friend & family groups, reunions, wedding receptions, faith groups and small conferences/festivals.
Thornbridge Outdoors is the perfect base to access the wonderfully diverse countryside and interesting towns/villages. They reside in the small village of Great Longstone where there are two pubs, a shop and a local park in walking distance. The Monsal Trail is accessible from the grounds; popular with walkers and cyclists this flat traffic free route travels 8.5 miles between Bakewell & Blackwell Mill near Buxton. The gritstone edges of Froggatt and Stanage are within easy reach.
Thornbridge Outdoors has an interesting history which dates back to the days of William the Conqueror. In 2003, Thornbridge Education Centre became Thornbridge Outdoors. Whilst continuing to provide residential / outdoor and environmental experience for Sheffield children, it has now become far more than just an ‘Education Centre’.
