Application guidance

The Application

Thank you for considering the Peak District National Park Authority as a possible employer. The following documents can be downloaded for our vacancies:

  • Job Description
  • Person Specification listing the essential and desirable requirements for the post
  • The Organisational Chart for the Service, where applicable
  • A summary of the main Conditions of Service
  • Competency Framework

Only applications submitted online (or exceptionally on one of our standard application forms if support is given in making the application) will be accepted. The information you provide will be used as the basis for shortlisting – other documents such as a CV cannot be considered. Please take time, therefore, to tell us how your skills and experience meets those required in the person specification.

Applications made via our website will be acknowledged by email. Again to manage costs we no longer confirm the outcome of job applications. If you have not heard from us within 4 weeks of the closing date, we regret that your application has not been successful.

Please note that County and District Councillors with our constituent local authorities are not able to take paid employment with the Peak District National Park Authority under Section 80 of the Local Government Act 1972. A full list of local authorities to which this applies is available on request.

The Interview

If you are invited for interview you will be asked to produce the original certificates for the qualifications recorded on your application which are relevant to the post. If not produced, you will not be able to commence employment.

False or misleading information provided in your application will disqualify you from appointment or, if appointed, render you liable to dismissal without notice.

We shall ask you to sign your application form as a true record if you are invited for interview.

Pre-employment Clearances

All offers of appointment are subject to the following clearances:

  • Satisfactory references (one of whom must be your current or last employer)
  • Medical clearance
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK

In addition, some posts require clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Monitoring Information

You are required to complete a monitoring form as part of your application. This allows us to monitor our recruitment policies and practices. It also provides information we need if you are successful.

The information we provide will not be seen in the short listing stages by anyone connected with making an appointment to the post.

Equal in Employment Statement

We seek to ensure that no job applicant or employee is discriminated against, either directly or indirectly, because of their age, disability, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status or civil partnership or pregnancy or maternity.

We will endeavour to ensure that all actions and decisions affecting job applicants and employees are made on fair, objective grounds without personal prejudices or discrimination.

Personal information supplied by job applicants may be copied and used during the recruitment process. Once this process is completed, the data will be stored for 6 months before being destroyed. If you are a successful candidate, the personal information you have provided in your application form will be used as part of your personnel record.
