Bike Hire FAQs

Payment

Can I pay on a credit/debit card?

Yes you can. We take most major credit and debit cards apart from American Express. Deposits however must be made in cash.

Can I pay my deposit on a card?

We are able to take payment for bike hire on cards, however the deposits must be paid in cash.

Why do you need a deposit?

The deposit is taken to cover the cost of damage that may be sustained during the course of your hire or to help cover our staff costs if you are late returning your bikes. Deposits will be withheld and/or additional reasonable credit/ debit card charges will be incurred in the event of damage or late return. See full terms and conditions.

Why do you need my address when I hire a bike?

We take this as a security measure as we like to know who is borrowing our equipment. We also need to use it on occasion if you have left something behind or have forgotten to collect your deposit. We do not pass it on to third parties.

Equipment

Can you fit a babyseat/buggy/Trail-a-Bike to my bike?

We can fit a buggy or Trail-a-Bike to your bike under certain conditions. Please see our terms and conditions full details. Babyseats are permanently fitted to our cycles so we are unable to fit them to your cycle.

Can I fit my babyseat/buggy/trail-a-bike to your bike?

We are unable to fit your own equipment to our cycles for safety reasons.

Can I take a babyseat/buggy/Trail-a-Bike on a tandem or electric bike?

For safety reasons we are unable to fit any kind of equipment to a tandem or electric bike.

How old do I need to be to ride an electric bike?

You must be 16 or older to ride  our pedal assist electric bikes.

Can I take a babyseat/buggy/Trail-a-Bike on a trike/wheelchair cycle/hand crank?

These cycles are unsuitable for attaching equipment to, therefore we are unable to offer this service for these cycles.

Do you hire out bikes with stabilisers?

We do not offer any cycles with stabilisers. If your child cannot ride or struggles to ride then we hire out Trail-a-Bikes which are single wheel bikes towed by an adult rider. If your child is older than 6/7 years old we do have tandems available as well which are more suitable for older children.

Can I take my dog in your buggies?

For hygiene and safety reasons we do not allow dogs into the same buggies that children go in.

Group visits

I'm interested in bringing a large group to you. How many bikes can you hire out at a time?

We are happy to cater for large parties up to 100. Please contact the centre you wish to visit to discuss your requirements and we will be able to advise you further.

I want to bring a group to you, do we have to pay on the day or can you invoice us?

We invoice groups in advance. Once payment and signed terms and conditions are received your booking is confirmed.

It is possible to reach the centres by public transport, however it can be limited at times and in some locations.

Helmets are available free of charge to customers who hire a bike from us and we strongly recommend that everybody wears one. We have a variety of sizes available from toddler up to large adult.

Can you tell me about when you sell your bikes?

We sell new and ex hire adult and child cycles.

All of our ex hire cycles are fully serviced and cleaned before they leave us, so apart from a few marks on the frame you are getting a bike that is in as good a condition as when we received it. Please see our cycle sales page for more information.

What should I wear?

Comfy trousers such as tracksuit bottoms are better than jeans. If the weather is inclement, windproof as well as waterproof clothing is best and gloves are a must. In terms of footwear, trainers or shoes with good grip are the most comfortable for safe cycling. When cycling on sunny days, please don't forget your sunscreen.
