Brampton Neighbourhood Plan

innovative building in the Peak District

Brampton Neighbourhood Plan

Made by North East Derbyshire District Council on 30 November 2023 and Peak District National Park Authority on 8 December 2023. Referendum result: 86% yes.

The Brampton Parish Neighbourhood Plan 2017–2034 sets out planning policies for Brampton Parish, a rural parish on the fringes of the Peak District National Park and the northern edge of Derbyshire, covering the villages of Cutthorpe, Old Brampton, Wadshelf, Eastmoor and Wigley. Most of the parish falls within North East Derbyshire, with a smaller area on its western side; Wadshelf, Eastmoor and Wigley, within the National Park. It was prepared by Brampton Parish Council's Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, with a vision "to sustain and enhance Brampton Parish as a proud, distinctive and thriving community," protecting its built and natural environment while responding to climate change. Following a referendum on 21 November 2023, in which 86% of those voting supported the plan (195 yes, 27 no), it was made by the North East Derbyshire District Council on 30 November 2023 and by the Peak District National Park Authority on 8 December 2023. It now forms part of the statutory development plan and is used to help decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.
