Whaley Bridge Neighbourhood Plan
Made by High Peak Borough Council on 31 January 2024 and Peak District National Park Authority on 19 January 2024. Referendum result: 92% yes.
The Whaley Bridge and Furness Vale Neighbourhood Plan sets out planning policies for Whaley Bridge, Furness Vale, Taxal and Fernilee, with part of the area falling within the Peak District National Park. It was prepared by Whaley Bridge Town Council through the community initiative "Vision4Whaley," using working groups covering transport and traffic, the town centre economy, countryside and environment, and housing design, to give the area a level of local control over planning decisions. Following a referendum on 7 December 2023, in which 92% of those voting supported the plan (694 yes, 59 no), it was made by the Peak District National Park Authority on 31 January 2024 and by High Peak Borough Council on 5 March 2024. It now forms part of the statutory development plan and is used to help decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.
