Holme Valley Neighbourhood Plan
Made by Kirklees Council on 8 December 2021 and Peak District National Park Authority on 10 December 2021. Referendum result: 85% yes.
The Holme Valley Neighbourhood Development Plan sets out planning policies for Holme Valley civil parish in West Yorkshire, most of which falls within Kirklees Council's area, with a smaller south-western portion inside the Peak District National Park. It was prepared by a Steering Group of parish councillors and community representatives, formed in 2016, working with planning consultants Kirkwells and AECOM, with a vision for Holme Valley to remain "a beautiful rural landscape offering safe environments for wildlife and a place where its culture, heritage and splendour are celebrated by local people and visitors." Following a referendum on 4 November 2021, in which 85% of those voting supported the plan (3,548 yes, 639 no), it was made by Kirklees Council at Full Council on 8 December 2021 and by the Peak District National Park Authority on 10 December 2021. It now forms part of the statutory development plan and is used to help decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.
